Hi, I am fat. Have been fat for just about as long as I can remember and there is no one to blame buy myself.
It is time to change my life. I am 32 years old, married and have an 18 month old son that I want to see grow up. I have always been “allergic” to the scale, never wanted to see what that number was that came up. I don’t know exactly what my heaviest was, but think it was probably about 385ish… Yesterday (Aug 2, 2009) I weighed in at 356.8 lbs, better than it was, but still way too much.
This will not be a blog about any fad diets, just exercise and eating better and less than I do now. I will not eat rabbit food just to make a number… Real food, normal portions (not huge like I have forever…)
What I plan on this blog being for now is a place for me to post everyday what I am doing to lose this weight and keep it off for good. I will tell you what I ate and what kind of exercise I do that day. I am too poor at this time to go to a gym, so I will walk in my neighborhood every day, rain or shine, and use the cheap home gym I bought a few years ago as much as I can. Weigh in will be every Sunday morning and I will post a picture of the scale that day.
Any help in the way of comments for other ways to work out will be greatly appreciated as anyone reading this will be my motivation and accountability to get this done. If you have a blog of your own, please send me a link. I would love to read and get inspired by others.
I have read that a written goal is a good way to motivate oneself, so here goes… Overall, I want to see 225 lbs, I think that would be a good fit on my 6’2″ frame. For shorter term goals, 299 by Halloween (57.8lbs in 69 days) and 250 by New Years (106.8lbs in 150 days). Can I do it? I think so, especially with your help!
Saw your comment on MyFitnessPal.com and decided to check out your blog. I like the title, “I am a fat guy”. I had a good laugh although I know it’s not funny.
LOL
I’m Kendra7107 on MFP!!
I think you are going to do great. I found that by keeping track of and logging my photo and reading the blogs for motivation I have been very successful. I have only lost 20 pounds and would like to lose 50 more. (can get away with losing only 40, but want to have a little wiggle room) I just keep plugging along.
Good Luck!
Kendra

I think that you are off to a good start but I would advise setting my goals at 1-2 pounds a week. It will be more realistic and it will last. Good luck to you

Hi I saw your post on myfitnesspal.com today and just read your blog. Good luck to you and remember the reasons you are trying to get heathly. I am also 6’2 my highest weight was 350 that was ten years ago in highschool since then I am now down to 245-242 depending on the day and water weight. My goal is to see 200 and under. It’s been a long jounry for me. Since joining myfitnesspal I have lost 18 pounds and hit a bump. I didn’t lose anything last month which sent me off my path of reaching my goals. No worry today’s a new day and I am getting on track. My best advice don’t beat yourself up over gaining or not losing as much as you hoped for. Dont beat yourself up for over eating too much or going off track tomorrow another day. It’s also a life style change too which is the biggest lesson i’ve learn. Habits take 12 weeks to become a continuing habit. For example after 12 weeks of working out your body will just want too it’s werid. Since your tall you probably here this too well as least I do your not fat your just tall I am so sick of hearing that! My main reason for losing weight is to start a family I keep that in my mind to keep me on track. Again good luck!!

Hi,
I saw your post on myfitnesspal.com. I know where you are coming from. At the end of my first year in graduate school, I weighed in at 335+ lbs in May 2007. That was when I started my journey. And today I weigh 187 lbs. I still have 17 more lbs to go From personal experience, I know this can be done. I didn’t do any fad diets, I just started out walking like you and cutting out fast food from my diet. Eventually, I joined a gym and learned how to do my own shopping and cooking. So just keep with it. Setting goals along the way helped me out tremendously. Just don’t give up. It may seem like your goal seems far away but believe me. It’ll be here in no time.
Good luck! I too keep a blog with my progress. There are some old pics of myself when I first started bloggin’ in May 2007.
